If you’re an avid reader of daneesaur.co.uk, make sure you give me a Like. It’s a nice way to get in touch with you on a more personal level, as well as update everyone on things that are going on with the blog. Just the other day I asked around what kind of comment system I should implement, ultimately deciding on Disqus.
Oh yeah, speaking of which! Maybe one or two of you with keen eyes has already noticed, but over the last couple of days I’ve been rolling out a couple of small tweaks and updates on the site. I’ll give you a convenient little list for you to check out:
- Installed Disqus (as mentioned). My usual comment plugin crashed, so I felt it was about time I rolled out the big guns. I’ve heard good and bad things about Disqus, but for the most part, what I like as a commenter is that you can actually easily follow up on the comments you leave on blogs. And if you’re concerned about your privacy and don’t want to comment using your Facebook (or other Social Media login) – fear not, you can still comment as a guest, leaving just a name and email as per usual (Disqus sadly won’t automatically grab your Gravatar to display it though).
- Added a description and new social media buttons to the sidebar. I didn’t like the old plugin I used for the buttons, so now I’ve got a new one that offers more variety and is more customisable. That’s why/how I added a link to my Letterboxd profile (basically a Goodreads for films, I love it!)
- Added a signature – and it’s my actual handwriting, whee!
- Also added a copyright notice to the bottom because all this shit’s miiiine.
Now it’s on you – what do you think of the new stuff? Or could you not care less at all? What do you think of Disqus? And don’t forget to like me on Facebook to get more of an insight into the running of the blog. xx
