One week in and I’ve already retitled the thing, cause there’s no way in hell I’m gonna be able to do this every week. I know me. Anyhow, it’s my birthday today! Woooo! Cake for me! Actually I’m just having a chilled out day with my mum today, we’ll go have some nice food, maybe drop by my best friend at work – originally I’ve had planned to go to Amsterdam with a car full of my closest friends, but everyone either had to work or was too broke to go. Me included. Aw well. Maybe next year (I tell myself).
So much on that, here’s what I’ve been loving lately:
WHY INTERSECTIONALITY & AN ETHICAL LIFESTYLE GO HAND IN HAND
I’ll start with my absolute favourite post of the last couple of days, which was this wonderful article on how intersectionality plays an important role in ethical living. I’ve always been vocal in advocating for the people who might simply not be able to lead a completely vegan/cruelty-free/ethical lifestyle, so Steph is really speaking directly to my soul here: Intersectionality & Ethical Living.
THE BODY SHOP IS STILL NOT REALLY CRUELTY-FREE
My next favourite that I wish I had written, but didn’t: my friend Katie has written a really good post explaining why we should stop considering The Body Shop as an ethical/cruelty-free brand: Enrich Not Exploit: The Small Print.
RECIPE >> CHOCOLATE TURDS
Once again I probably could’ve put that nicer, but Emma, from one of the blogs we all probably know, A Beautiful Mess, has written a recipe for super easy no-bake peanut chocolate cookies. That look like turds. (sorry) I’m definitely having a go at these some time soon! Chocolate No-Grains No-Bake Cookies.
IBD >> CUTE OSTOMY BAGS
People who suffer from IBD might have to get a colostomy or ileostomy at some point in their life. Nakisha Brown was sick of the ugly brown/flesh coloured bags and started creating more fashionable covers: Crohn’s sufferer turns illness into business after making fashionable colostomy bags
That’s it for this week! I’ll go ahead and bury my face in birthday cake now. That is, if I’m even getting one at all today.
